The Landscape Operations team has been steadily keeping track of one of our winter projects in the greenhouse. Our crew over the winter months propagated Paspalum Grass (Paspalum dilatatum) from seed. We were able to harvest the seed by going around the course and using hand pruners. Once the seed was harvested it had to sit out and dry until it easily separated from the stem. After the seed had sit long enough we filled the trays with potting soil and placed 3-5 seeds in each section. We continued this process until we had over 400 tray cells with seeds in them. We finished off the trays by watering them in and placing them into our greenhouse to promote growth in the cooler winter months. We are hoping to be able to use our crop for the upcoming PLAYERS event of 2014.
