Landscape Operations Team...

Rejuvenational pruning of grasses around the resort property is a very important aspect of the Landscape Operation Team leading up to THE PLAYERS.  Paspalum grass, or Crown Grass (Paspalum quadrifarium) and Creeping Cordgrass (Spartina patens) is pruned annually around both courses, while Sand Cordgrass (Spartina bakeri) is pruned biannually. This process is developed in order to remove all of the dead foliage from the previous growing season and allow us to reshape the grass for top quality standards. Our goal is to allow the grass enough time to rejuvenate prior to the championship. The flush of new growth provides fullness for the viewer and an eye popping green, coarse textured grass that contrasts with the pine straw.  Our team is making tremendous progress even though there have been numerous delays due to the recent cold temperatures.  Our completion goal is set for mid-February.
