Fertilizer Methods

Last week two crew members applied fertilizer to the greens using rotary spreaders and it is important to make this application as even as possible to avoid skips or too much overlap. A simple but effective way of achieving this uniform application is with the assistance of stakes. Stakes are placed at opposite ends of the green indicating the center line for each pass. After each pass, the stakes are repositioned to indicate the center line of the next pass. This process allows employees to know exactly where they have already applied fertilizer which aids in avoiding over-application of product and skips.
