Both the PLAYERS Stadium Course and Dye's Valley had to delay the first tee time this morning due to a heavy frost. Clear skies, calm winds and temps around 40F were the perfect combination for frost to form just before sun rise.
We are extremely cautious of frost damage by cart and foot traffic in the fall because the chance of recovery is minimal. Frost damage occurs when the ice is crushed into the plant tissue rupturing the plant cells. In fall and winter this damage can be seen for a long time because the plant is not actively growing.
