Dye's Valley - Soil Profile

Yesterday the Valley greens were aerated with a 5/8" tine to a depth of approximately 7".  This was done with the hopes of being able to break through the organic layer that had built up over time.  Below the organic layer is the original greens mix and our goal was to create channels of sand through the organic material into the sand below.

The organic layer on the greens reaches depths of 6-7" and with the use of South Eastern Turfgrass' deeptine aerator we were able to achieve this.  The after picture clearly shows sandy channels that were not there before.  We are very excited about this as this has been a limiting factor in turfgrass health in the past.
