Growing THE PLAYERS: Sub-surface drainage

Sub-surface drainage:
This week at TPC Sawgrass we have been installing sub-surface drainage to highly saturated areas around the course. The first step in this installation is to use a sod cutter to cut a desired drainage line. Once the sod was removed,we excavated the trench, pulling out all of the old soil and organic build up . Next the perforated drain tile will be laid into the trench and back filled with pure sand. This will ensure that drainage water will travel through the soil and reach the drain tile with ease and not build up and become overly saturated . When the trench was backfilled, we re-installed the sod.
